French Oak is sourced from managed forests in Normandy where the region's cool climate, rich soil, and careful forestry cultivate light brown tones with subtle, fine grain. This distinct type of European Oak is valued in cooperage, fine woodworking, and custom wood flooring. Rift & Quarter Sawn Oak is milled to reveal its medullary rays, often referred to as "flake" or "figure." This cut is among the most stable, and may include color variation, straight grain and, occasional edge sap.
